The brownie is a versatile cake that can be tailored to personal preferences. The key ingredients are chocolate and butter, which provide its moisture and intense flavor. It can be enhanced with various additions like nuts, fruits, or a cheesecake filling. To reduce calories, you can add grated vegetables, like zucchini, to make the cake less fattening while keeping it delicious. However, baking the perfect brownie at home can be challenging. Jamie Oliver shared a simple trick that guarantees amazing brownies every time.

Jamie Oliver emphasizes that success lies not only in the quality of the ingredients but also in their preparation.

“Who doesn’t love a beautiful, delicious chocolate brownie? This one is simply made with quality ingredients; no flavouring, no nuts, no fruit – just chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate” writes Jamie on his website.

Jamie Oliver's Brownie

Ingredients:

  • 9 oz of good-quality dark chocolate (70%)
  • 9 oz of unsalted butter
  • 4 large free-range eggs
  • 9 oz of golden caster sugar
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of high-quality cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Tear off a large piece of parchment paper, crumple it under cold water, then lay it out to line an 8-inch by 8-inch baking pan.
  3. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl, chop the butter, and add a pinch of sea salt. Melt over a pan of gently boiling water, stirring regularly. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  4. Break the eggs into a large bowl, add the sugar, and whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  5. Sift the flour with the baking powder, then sift in the cocoa. Beat to combine, then fold into the melted chocolate mixture.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the lined tray and spread it out evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cake is crispy on the outside but slightly wobbly inside.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes so the crust becomes crispy while the center remains moist. Then slice and serve warm. Brownies are delicious with vanilla ice cream, crushed hazelnuts, and caramel popcorn.
