Italy topped the ranking in the Taste Atlas Awards. This was mainly due to the highest-rated dish in the study, their flagship food, pizza. Japan and Greece came in second and third, respectively. Portugal (4th place) and China (5th place) also reached the top five.

The Taste Atlas Awards also compiled a separate ranking for the top 100 dishes worldwide. The Brazilian dish "picanha", a cut of beef from the cow's rump, secured the top spot.

Securing second place was "roti canai", a flatbread dish from Malaysia, and in third place was the Thai dish "phat kopharo", made with chicken or pork and served with basil, chili, garlic, and Jasmine rice.

The rankings stirred an online debate regarding dishes that voters felt were not properly acknowledged. Internet users expressed disappointment at the absence of awards for such dishes as: moussaka and pepperoni pizza.
