A brutal war is ongoing in Israel. The country has been attacked by Hamas. "The anger of those affected by the conflict is turned against Netanyahu" - Politico points out.
Israelis, who have experienced the cruelties of Hamas, believe that the war was led to, among other things, by the hostile policy of Benjamin Netanyahu's government towards the Palestinians.
- The Prime Minister of Israel must say, "I'm sorry, I let you down. Because of me and my pride, you were almost murdered," said 45-year-old Addi Cherry. The woman managed to leave Nahal Oz, which was attacked by militants. She survived because she barricaded herself with her husband and children in the house.
Meanwhile, 40-year-old Elada Poterman revealed that his family was saved by a latch installed on the inside of the door by the previous tenant, which also prevented the terrorists from breaking in. As he waited for the situation to unfold, he posted on Facebook. He was convinced that he wouldn't survive. "Half an hour, we're locked in with terrorists at home, no one is coming" - he wrote.
Politico points out that "the causes of such a spectacular security failure in a country that prides itself on its intelligence apparatus are still unclear and pose a huge problem for the Netanyahu administration."
On Wednesday, Poterman and Cherry, along with other survivors from the kibbutz, spoke at the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Israel. They talked about the terrifying moments they experienced.
- I have some personal scores to settle with that (Israeli - ed.) government - said the 40-year-old. - They abandoned my daughter to certain death. This won't go away. I will never forget it - he added.
- As for the Netanyahu government, I myself will remove them from the Knesset (parliament - ed. note), I will do it with my own hands. I have already started organizing many people from around who have been abandoned and want to do exactly the same - he declared.
Cherry also noted that she has been going through very difficult times since the attack. - We had everything, and now we have nothing - she pointed out. - I think that returning to normal will take some time, because I do not trust the government. I do not trust them - she added.
Poterman called for a "national sobering up". He appealed to both Israelis and Palestinians to "rise above the lies politicians feed them". - We are on the brink of civil war and this is Netanyahu's doing. The problem is that a large part of society has been willing to repeat politicians' lies for years - he stated.
- What maintains these kinds of regimes is people's willingness to lie - he said. - The moment they don't want to lie and it comes out that the king is naked, the regime falls very quickly - he added.
