The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in London reported that Israeli aircraft conducted four strikes on a military unit command southwest of Damascus and one attack on a military facility in southern Daraa. There are no reports of damage or casualties at this time.

The office of Minister Katz announced that the Israeli air force is conducting intensive raids as part of the new policy of "pacification of southern Syria." The statement stressed they would not allow southern Syria to become like southern Lebanon.

Threat to Israeli citizens

In a statement by the Israeli army, it was noted that the airstrikes targeted, among others, weapon depots that posed a threat to Israeli citizens. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel demands that no troops of the new government be stationed in areas south of Damascus.

In December 2024, a coalition of rebels overthrew the regime of Bashar al-Assad, which led to an increase in Israeli military activities. The Israeli Air Force regularly strikes military targets in Syria, and these airstrikes intensified during the fighting that led to Assad's downfall. Since 2011, various armed groups have controlled Syria's territory, and the new government has announced the creation of a single national army.
