The target of the attack, as reported by Reuters citing sources in the Syrian security services, was a Palestinian individual. According to the Associated Press, the building allegedly served as the home of Ziyad Nahkhalah, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

A member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad stated that the house had been empty for years and that Nahkhalah is not in Syria. It is believed that Nahkhalah, considered very close to the Iranian authorities, shuttles between Lebanon, Iran, and Syria.

Currently, there is no information on whether anyone was injured in the Israeli air force attack.

"There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism"

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, although less numerous than Hamas, is one of the most significant terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Air Force attack on Damascus is part of a broader strategy by Israel aimed at countering terrorist activities targeted at the Jewish state. "Wherever terror activity against Israel is organized," emphasized Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, "the extreme Islamic leader al-Jolani will find the Air Force aircraft flying above and striking terror targets."

"There will be no immunity for Islamic terrorism against Israel – whether in Damascus or anywhere else," added Minister Katz.
