Israel uncovers Hamas' massive 2.4‑mile terror tunnel, close to Erez border crossing
The Israeli army purports this to be the largest tunnel that Hamas has constructed to date. According to their measurements, the tunnel is 2.4 miles in length and, alarmingly, one of its exits is located approximately 0.25 miles from the Erez border crossing, situated between the northern Gaza Strip and Israel - as reported by the Israeli Defense Forces on Sunday. A significant cache of weapons was discovered within the tunnel.

A photojournalist from the AFP, reporting from the location, estimated that the tunnel is spacious enough to accommodate a car.
It is suspected by the Israeli army that the tunnel's construction, likely costing millions of dollars, was overseen by Mohammad Sinwar, the brother of Hamas commander Yahya Sinwar.
Hamas invested significant resources in the project
Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht, a spokesperson for the Israeli army, reported that the terrorist group Hamas has invested substantial resources into a project that "serves solely to attack the state of Israel and its inhabitants."
Hamas has asserted that its network of underground tunnels totals 311 miles in length, approximately 62 miles longer than the London subway. Last week, the Israeli army disclosed that from the commencement of their ground offensive against Hamas, their forces have uncovered more than 800 shafts and tunnels in the Strip.
According to an American official who spoke to CNN last week, "Israel has initiated the process of flooding some of the tunnels in Gaza with seawater, to dismantle the network."
