Israel targets Hezbollah commander in Beirut airstrike

We carried out a targeted airstrike on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, aimed at the Hezbollah commander responsible for Saturday's deadly attack on the Golan Heights and other strikes on Israel, the Israeli army reported on Tuesday.
Earlier, Reuters reported loud explosions and plumes of smoke over the southern district of Beirut, which is a Hezbollah stronghold.
According to many reports, the target of the attack was Fuad Shukr, also known as Haj Mohsin, a senior advisor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, reported the Times of Israel.
According to Reuters and AFP, citing sources close to Hezbollah, Shukr survived Tuesday's attack. AFP reported that two people were killed in the airstrike, while Reuters mentioned one fatality and seven injured.
The Israeli army announced a few years ago that Fuad Shukr is the head of Hezbollah's precision missile development program. The U.S. also wants him for his involvement in the 1983 bombing of American military barracks in Beirut.
In Lebanon, there has been anticipation for a few days of the announced Israeli retaliation against Hezbollah for the Saturday attack on the Golan Heights, which killed 12 Druze children and teenagers.
