Authorities in Tel Aviv are soon to announce their response to the overnight attack by Iran. This crucial decision will be made by a three-person war cabinet authorized by the Israeli security cabinet.

CNN reported the formation of a war cabinet in Israel from Saturday to Sunday night, naming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, and opposition politician Benny Gantz as its members.

Netanyahu earlier stated in a speech that Israel is prepared for any direct attack by Iran and will retaliate. "Whoever hurts us, we will hurt them," he declared.

Meanwhile, during a phone call with the head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin requested that the United States be informed before any Israeli response to the Iranian attack.

Tensions in the Middle East: Iran attacks Israel

The Israeli armed forces reported that Iran launched over 300 "threats" towards Israel overnight, including drones and ballistic missiles, marking the attack's duration at five hours. CNN has called it "the largest drone attack in history".

Fortunately, air defences and fighters successfully intercepted most of the drones and missiles.

President Joe Biden characterized the assault by Iran and its proxies from Yemen, Syria, and Iraq on Israel as unprecedented.
The attack from Tehran is said to be a direct response to Israel's bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, last week. The strike resulted in the deaths of seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two generals who were key figures in Iran's foreign military operations.
