A ship loaded with American MK-84 bombs was unloaded in the port of Ashdod, Israel. The cargo, already approved by the Trump administration, was transported to air bases.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized that the delivery of munitions is a significant asset for the Israeli Air Force and Defense Forces. As reported by the "Times of Israel," the transport was previously held back by the Biden administration out of concern for the fate of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Conflict in the Gaza Strip: Israel received a delivery of American bombs

According to the ministry, since October 2023, at the start of the Gaza Strip war, over 84,000 tons of military equipment have reached Israel. The deliveries mostly originated from the United States.

These transports included 678 aircraft and 129 ships. Minister Katz emphasized that this support, along with the latest delivery of MK-84 bombs, is further evidence of the strong alliance between Israel and the United States.

For many years, Israel has been the largest recipient of American military aid. Even before the outbreak of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, this aid amounted to $3.8 billion annually. During the first year of the war, the United States spent $17.9 billion on Israel.

U.S. support for Israel was declared at the beginning of Donald Trump's renewed presidency by the new Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. After Trump's inauguration, he held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rubio promised to continue efforts for the release of all hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
