Where do the boundaries of fun and risk for views end, and where does flirting with danger begin? It's hard to say. Some internet creators engage in extremely risky actions to stay in the spotlight. Some even have run-ins with bears or bury themselves in coffins. The method of gaining temporary popularity isn't what's important—the views, partnerships, and contracts are.
Did IShowSpeed almost lose his life?
While in New Zealand, IShowSpeed visited the Velocity Valley amusement park. One of the park's attractions is a 141-foot tower from which volunteers jump without ropes or harnesses. The streamer chose to jump, documenting his feat on video as usual. Wearing a helmet, Speed growled at the camera and fell onto the net almost 164 feet below.
The next part of the video shows the influencer lying on the net. People around him are acting like paramedics. Speed is lying on his side, and a woman is helping to stabilize his head. After removing the helmet, the streamer grabs his head, and a grimace of pain appears. Everything looks very serious and alarming. It's no wonder that fans of IShowSpeed have many questions.
The director of Velocity Valley presents his version of events
In a press release, Simon Short, the Managing Director of Velocity Valley, stated that IShowSpeed was unharmed. Short emphasized that the influencer was "thrilled" by the attraction. The director claims that after the dramatic conclusion of the live broadcast, Speed got up from the net as if nothing had happened, then remarked that the attraction was "awesome." Short added that Speed’s cameraman whispered to him shortly after the jump, "Don't worry, he's going to pretend he's dead in a moment." The staff attending Speed didn't know his intentions but handled the situation professionally. As shown in the recording, Speed whispered 'green apple,' the codeword for the cameraman to end the broadcast, leaving millions of fans uncertain, said Short.
