Snails are causing real havoc in our gardens. Once their colonies settle on our plots, they can quickly destroy vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers. However, there is a tried-and-true method that can help us quickly get rid of these pests.

Every gardener becomes sad at the sight of them. Snails mean big trouble. They quickly "get to work" on the plants we have painstakingly cared for, leaving behind massive destruction.

How can we deal with these unwanted guests once and for all? This mixture, well-known to experienced gardeners, is supposed to help quickly remove snails from our plots.

Snail invasion in the garden? We have a solution

Anyone who has tried to solve the problem with these pests knows that it is not easy. The problem returns every season, and the battle with snails must start anew. Store-bought solutions to deal with their invasion are not the cheapest.

However, there is a way out of this situation that allows us to save a bit. We can prepare an effective concoction at home. We only need a little time, patience, and a few products: food-grade phosphoric acid, water, a syringe for measuring the liquid, a small container to prepare the solution, and, for example, wires or other small construction elements, such as structural shapes.

Homemade powder to combat snails - recipe

A gardener quoted by Deccoria emphasized that mixing 0.34 fl oz of water with 0.17 fl oz of the aforementioned food-grade phosphoric acid is enough. It is essential to maintain the order: pour the water into the container, then the acid. Then, the solution needs to be mixed thoroughly. Next, the resulting substance is applied to the wires, structural shapes, or other metal parts. We leave the acidic paste overnight.

The next day, wash off the acid residue with boiling water. Now we deal with the coating, which needs to be scraped off the metal using a grinder or, for example, a metal brush. Before starting the final stage, line the container with a protective bag to catch the dust created by grinding. This powder will be an essential component of the homemade snail remedy.

To prepare the mixture, use 0.035 ounces of dust per 0.26 gallons of spray. Remember to always work with protective gloves and goggles to stay safe.
