Intensified Ukrainian attacks in Crimea destroy key targets

According to the occupying authorities of Crimea, eight Ukrainian missiles were shot down on Monday evening. Explosions were heard in Sevastopol and the surrounding areas of Balaklava. During the afternoon attack, Russian air defence reportedly shot down six missiles.

Russian governor of Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhayev, stated that the situation was quickly controlled. He warned, however, that "fragments of the downed targets fell in the coastal zone and the Balaklava area."

On Tuesday, the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, General Mykola Oleschuk, confirmed that an ammunition depot in Russian-occupied Crimea was destroyed. According to monitoring groups, the target was a missile unit near Sevastopol.

"Once again, Ukrainian aircraft, 'destroyed' by enemy propaganda, continue to successfully carry out combat missions, conduct missile and bomb attacks on occupier positions, and eliminate important military targets deep in enemy territory. On July 1, 2024, Ukrainian pilots conducted a destructive strike on an ammunition depot in Crimea," Oleschuk wrote on Telegram.

In his post, the Ukrainian Air Force commander included photos from a Telegram channel called Krymskij Wieter. This channel is known for providing reliable information about the situation in Crimea. The images showed plumes of smoke rising above buildings on the hills surrounding Sevastopol.

The Krymskij Wieter channel also provided information about the attack's effects. As a result of Ukrainian aviation's actions, a warehouse where the Russians stored Shahed drones, manufactured in Iran, was destroyed.

"During yesterday's missile attack, the Shahed warehouse was blown up, destroying nearly 90 drones," the channel reported.

The missile unit that was targeted is located in the village of Flotske, situated in the Balaklava region. This small village is near Sevastopol, the main base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
