Did you come home from a walk in the forest with a basket full of mushrooms? It's worth drying them now, but how do you do it in the best way? It turns out that an oven or a special dryer is not the only suitable equipment for this purpose. So what equipment are we talking about?

I think you'll agree with me that when the treasures of the forest are already in our house, we do everything to utilize their potential 100 percent. And of course, there's nothing strange about this, because mushrooms are really an interesting and tasty addition to many dishes. That's why we often want to save some mushrooms for later and use them for example for Christmas Eve dishes, where they take the leading role. In my family home, for example, they must also be in the sour soup my mom makes.

Just how do you do it in a simple and quick way? It turns out that there is a certain interesting method. What's more, deciding to go for it, you don't even need an oven, strings to hang mushrooms, or a special dryer. You can dry mushrooms in a completely different way

Do you want to dry mushrooms? Put them in the refrigerator

I know, initially this idea might seem like a pure abstraction. After all, drying mushrooms is mostly associated with the warm environment that, for example, an oven provides. Give me a few minutes, and everything will become clear

I was initially shocked, but when I saw how the mushrooms looked after such drying, I was momentarily speechless out of impressiveness. In my opinion, this is the easiest and at the same time the cheapest option for drying mushrooms. Why? Because you don't have to specifically turn on an oven or a mushroom dryer. The fridge works all the time anyway.

Moreover, you can give up threading mushrooms on a string and hanging them near a radiator or stove. The refrigerator method is much faster. So as you see, there are quite a few arguments for using a refrigerator. But how to do it?

Drying mushrooms in the refrigerator step by step

The instructions for drying mushrooms in the refrigerator are very simple. At the same time, remember there are a few essential things that are really key to success in this case. Let's get to work!

Start with the correct preparation of the refrigerator. To do this, put all the products from the refrigerator into airtight containers that could affect the smell and taste of the mushrooms. Also, make room on one shelf of the refrigerator. Once it's clean, lay out small trays or baking paper on it first, and then cleaned and cut into smaller pieces mushrooms. Remember, the mushrooms should not have direct contact with each other, so keep a small gap between them.

If you want to dry mushrooms in the refrigerator, you must remember one very important issue. The whole process will go to waste if the refrigerator lacks a good desiccant. Only under such conditions will you achieve satisfactory results. The mushrooms will be ready to be removed after a few days

Of course, remember to keep your finger on the pulse and occasionally check on the mushrooms to see what condition they're in. And that's it!
