Extended metro services: A boon for cricket fans

As Bengaluru gears up for the thrilling cricket encounter between India and Afghanistan, BMRCL has significantly adjusted its metro train services. On January 17th, trains on the Purple and Green lines will operate until 11:45 pm from four terminal metro stations, ensuring fans can easily travel to and from the match venue. This extension is a strategic move to alleviate congestion caused by private vehicles near the stadium.

Ticketing made easy: Special offers and digital options

BMRCL has introduced special return journey paper tickets to facilitate smooth travel during the extended hours. Available from 2:00 pm onwards on the match day, these tickets enable travel from Cubbon Park and MG Road Metro Station to other stations between 8:00 pm and 11:45 pm. A 5% discount on regular fares is offered for QR code tickets, which are purchasable through WhatsApp, the Namma Metro App, or PayTM. Notably, smart cards and NCMC cards remain valid for usage.

This proactive approach by BMRCL highlights its commitment to enhancing public transport convenience, especially during significant city events like the T20 cricket match. By extending metro service hours and providing multiple ticketing options, BMRCL ensures that cricket fans can enjoy the game without the hassle of transportation issues.
