Tortilla rolls have dominated party tables for a long time now. They are an easy and incredibly versatile way to prepare a snack that meets every palette. The tortilla can take a plethora of fillings - from a meatless version to a meat-laden one. Various vegetables, sauces, and dips can be used as filling. My usual go-to filling is deli meat and pickled peppers, a combination I adore. The consistently empty plates at the end of the party tell me that I'm not alone in this sentiment.
How can variety be introduced in tortilla rolls?
Tortilla rolls are a savory, simple snack that can be made with various ingredients. The choices are limitless - you can pick from cold cuts, cheese, vegetables, fish, spreads, and sauces. Which combinations could be worth a try? For instance, chicken and fried onions, ham and cheese with avocado and an herbal sauce, or an egg spread with sun-dried tomatoes and cucumber. Smoked salmon with horseradish cheese, pickled cucumber, and fresh bell pepper is another fantastic combination. Don't forget to check out our recipe for breakfast rolls with tortillas too.
Feel free to experiment and create your flavor combinations. Just remember not to overload with too many ingredients and always evenly spread the cheese or sauce, the "binding" agent stopping the ingredients from spilling out of the tortilla. After rolling, it's ideal to refrigerate the rolls so that they firm up and become more accessible to cut into slices.
