Illegal exotic animal breeding uncovered in German garden
In Thuringia, Germany, authorities discovered an illegal exotic animal breeding operation. A small garden was found to contain a crocodile and 22 snakes, posing a deadly threat. Officials were required to intervene and capture all the reptiles.
A remarkable discovery occurred in Nordhausen. A crocodile and several dangerous snakes were found in a garden. Emergency services, supported by veterinarians, had to intervene to safely capture and secure these exotic animals, according to reports by "Bild".
A crocodile named Lucifer was found in the garden, which had a low fence. The animal, measuring 8 feet, was brought by the owner from a defunct zoo ten years ago. In addition to the crocodile, there were twelve yellow and two green anacondas, as well as four boa constrictors kept in outdated terrariums.
Additionally, according to the German newspaper, a 16-foot reticulated python was secured during the operation, transported in a blue barrel by the owner.
Venomous snakes were transported in similar conditions, including two vipers, a spitting cobra, and a monocled cobra. However, the most challenging task was capturing the crocodile. The veterinarian had to use a metal loop and tape to immobilize its jaws.
Lucifer was transported to a marine aquarium in another town in Thuringia, Zella-Mehlis, where he joined other crocodiles. Meanwhile, the snakes have been temporarily placed under the care of a veterinarian and will be sent to zoological gardens in the future.
