Pasta not for everyone? This is news that may sadden some fans of Italian cuisine. See what consequences of pasta consumption should concern you and make you limit this product to a minimum. Unfortunately, it's not just about gluten intolerance.

Italian cuisine has been excellently accepted in our country. During the pandemic crisis, restaurants serving pizza and pasta managed relatively well, making it through the worst period without much trouble. Meanwhile, we have come to like "cucina italiana" so much that we also started preparing dishes from Italy in our own homes.

Regardless of how the person came to eat pasta, certain accompanying symptoms should ring warning bells for us. There is something wrong - and our body tries to tell us. The question is: what is happening in the body, and why, specifically, after eating pasta?

Pasta is not for everyone

Bloating, diarrhea, constipation, but also migraines, muscle aches, and sleep problems. Not all symptoms of gluten intolerance are equally obvious, but they occur quite quickly after consuming a product rich in these proteins. This differentiates gluten intolerance from celiac disease, an intestinal disease, in which case, after getting gluten into the body, there is an incorrect (but slower) immune system reaction. Here, on the other hand, even depression, neurological disorders, or mouth ulcers are counted among the symptoms.

Gluten intolerance and celiac disease are thus the two most common contraindications to eating pasta. And yet they are not the only ones that should disqualify this food item from our menu. This is about a chicken egg protein allergy, which manifests as hives, skin itching, and swelling of the lips and skin of the face.

Some people may also struggle with an increase in heartburn and other negative effects on gastric ulcer disease and reflux after eating pasta. Moreover, it's worth noting that the longer pasta is cooked, the more it increases its glycemic index. That's why, when setting up a diet for diabetics, regular pasta is often eliminated.
