I put sugar cubes into the bread bin and refrigerator. I do this for a specific reason
In every kitchen, you can find a whole lot of food products. But do you know how to store them so they last as long as possible?
I love spending time in the kitchen. Creating tasty meals, testing new recipes, or trying completely unknown flavor combinations is for me the biggest thrill. There's just one problem. After some time food starts to spoil, and because I hate wasting food, today I'm going to share with you proven solutions that will help you keep its freshness much longer.
No more wasting food. In just a moment, you will see that it takes really very little to achieve brilliant results!
How to store food in the kitchen?
Given that this topic is very broad, I will divide it into several parts. In each of such articles, I will strive to introduce a few solutions, thanks to which you will never throw food into the trash again.
I don't know if you know, but there are many proven methods that really work. I apply them in my kitchen, so I know what I'm writing. So, shall we start?
Bananas, bread, and yellow cheese
We will start the new cycle with three basic food products that can be found in any Polish home. What's more, in two of the cases described, you will use one solution to prolong the shelf life of the products. This makes the whole process even simpler.
Let's perhaps start with bananas, because we usually buy them in larger quantities. Hence, it's even more worthwhile to know what to do to maintain their freshness for longer. And as it turns out, for this task you need ordinary cling film. All you need to do is tightly wrap the end that connects the bananas, and no more trouble. Bananas with such protection will certainly last you much longer.
Today's list wouldn't be complete without mentioning bread. It's the base for both our breakfast and dinner preparations. It also often accompanies our soup. Typically we store the bread in a breadbox. And it turns out, it's a good idea to put a few cubes of sugar (also works with granulated sugar) in it to prolong the freshness of the bread in a quick and easy way. How does it work? Turns out, sugar prevents the bread from drying out. But that's not all the good news in this particular case. You can also put a piece of apple in the breadbox. This fruit will also prolong the bread's freshness. There is just one catch, the apple should be replaced every 2-3 days with a fresh one.
The kitchen should also never be without yellow cheese. We usually keep it in the refrigerator. And here I recommend not only using a special container, but also a homemade trick, which will prevent the cheese from molding too quickly. Here, sugar (both in cubes and in granulated form) also works wonders. Just throw a few cubes into the container with the cheese and you're good to go!
And that's all for today. Now you know exactly what to do to extend the shelf life of basic food products in your kitchen.
