Hybrid attacks surge in NATO: Lithuanian minister warns Russia

Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, emphasized that "hybrid attacks are also intensifying in NATO countries." He stated that member countries should make it "clear to Moscow" that any conflict escalation would trigger an immediate response.

Russian hybrid warfare against Western countries supporting Ukraine has many dimensions and involves a wide range of activities and areas.

Among the most significant are cyberattacks on information services, disruption of GPS signals threatening civil aviation safety, propaganda campaigns, sending groups of migrants to EU borders, and various acts of sabotage such as arson.

"Hybrid attacks are also intensifying in NATO countries," said the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

Lithuanian foreign minister: "A clear message" must be sent to Moscow

Gabrielius Landsbergis stressed that a "clear message" must be sent to Moscow that any conflict escalation will be met with a decisive response.

We have to be very clear what we are going to do about it, and unfortunately I don't think that we are sending the right message yet. Moscow must get a clear message that whenever they escalate they will receive an answer from our side, said the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg.

In April, the Nato Review assessed that "hybrid warfare seems to have become an integral part of Moscow's policy vis-à-vis the West." The Kremlin aims to influence public discourse, diminish the sense of security in Western societies, create destabilization, and generally inspire a sense of threat.
