The evolving requirements faced by the military on modern battlefields highlight the growing role of drones. Both civilian and military drones can be invaluable in executing various operations, from targeted attacks and reconnaissance to surveillance missions. They are even used for transporting medicines, food, and arms. A prime example is Ukraine, where both sides employ numerous unmanned models. Many drones can penetrate seemingly tight enemy air defenses or destroy armored equipment.
PHANTOM: A new unmanned vehicle from Hungary
The Hungarian company Uaviator, which introduced the PHANTOM drone to the world, recognizes the significance of unmanned vehicles. Army Recognition notes that it is a machine designed with modularity in mind. This feature allows the UAV to be configured according to the specific needs of a mission. "The ability to equip or remove non-essential components makes it an extremely versatile drone, suitable for a wide range of operational applications," the service reports.
Available information indicates that the PHANTOM is a UAV with a mass of 1,323 lbs and capable of carrying payloads weighing up to 1,102 lbs (its total takeoff weight is as high as 2,425 lbs). This is enabled by its special design. The drone can ascend to an altitude of 19,685 feet and has an estimated range of about 6,200 miles, allowing it to perform long-range missions, including international ones.
The creators of the PHANTOM also incorporated stealth technology, which makes it difficult for the UAV to be detected. This includes evasion from radar, thermal radiation, and electromagnetic emissions. Such features enhance the drone's operational capability in sensitive environments, where avoiding detection is crucial.
