Hulu revives 'Prison Break' with a fresh twist on Netflix hit
Who hasn't watched "Prison Break"? Today, the series gets a second life thanks to Netflix. Meanwhile, Hulu has ordered a pilot for a new version of the popular series, which will focus on new characters in the same universe.
Hulu has decided to order a pilot episode for the new version of the popular series "Prison Break." According to "Variety," the new installment will not focus on the well-known characters, Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, but will introduce a new group of prisoners.
The return of "Prison Break" - what do we know?
It was expected that amid the wave of revisiting various hits from years past, this series would also receive a new installment. Currently, it is known that Elgin James, co-creator of the series "Mayans M.C.," and 20th Television are responsible for the production. Among the executive producers are Dawn Olmstead, the original "Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz.
Admittedly, there is not much information yet. At this stage, it's too early to expect plot details, but foreign media confirm that fans of "Prison Break" finally have confirmation that the story will return to the small screens.
The original "Prison Break" aired for five seasons on Fox, and its success resulted in the TV movie "Prison Break: The Final Break" and a spin-off, "Prison Break: Proof of Innocence," which were not as warmly received as the original. The series followed the story of Michael Scofield, an engineer who, after learning that his older brother was sentenced for a crime he didn't commit, deliberately gets himself imprisoned in the same jail. Beforehand, he covers his body with tattoos that conceal the Fox River prison plan. Slowly, while incarcerated, he begins to execute his plan, and viewers follow this with bated breath.
The first season was so good that the creators received a Golden Globe. It inspired a video game, webisodes, a magazine, and novels. The main roles were played by Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Paul Adelstein, among others.
