A good night's sleep is essential for daily recovery, and it is supported by a proper diet and drinking habits. Consuming too much fluid before bed can lead to frequent awakenings during the night, negatively affecting the quality of our rest.

Hydrating the body before sleep is essential, but it should be well-considered. Drinking water before bed aids in detoxification helps maintain proper body temperature, and positively affects sleep quality by shortening the time it takes to fall asleep and enhancing recovery.

What not to drink before bed?

Many people don’t realize that some drinks can disrupt sleep. Among beverages, those particularly not recommended are the ones with diuretic or stimulating effects. Besides coffee, which contains caffeine and is usually consumed earlier in the day, we should also avoid other drinks before sleep. Which ones exactly?

Before falling asleep, you should not drink black or green tea due to the theine content, which can make it difficult to fall asleep and cause frequent trips to the bathroom. Similarly, carbonated drinks like cola and energy drinks, which have a stimulating effect, should be avoided. You should also steer clear of drinks like cocoa and yerba mate.

The issue of alcoholic beverages is also important. Although they are often considered helpful for falling asleep, they can disrupt the deep phases of sleep, causing us to wake up tired in the morning.

What to drink for a good night's sleep?

Classic water is the best choice before bed. It is a neutral beverage with invaluable health benefits. Other recommended drinks include kefir, fresh cherry juice, water with lemon and ginger, and calming herbal teas such as chamomile or lemon balm.

By choosing these beverages, we provide our body with optimal conditions for rest and recovery. This helps us avoid nighttime awakenings and enjoy a good mood the next day.
