How can we avoid buying water at the airport? Such a bottle can cost quite a lot. There are ways to avoid spending a penny on it.

Airport security checks are an integral part of air travel. For many, they are incredibly stressful. The worry about meeting all the requirements and the time pressure before departure can further increase the tension.

Many people wonder how to avoid unnecessary costs. Can you pack water in carry-on luggage? The answer is not as apparent as it seems.

Can I bring water on the plane?

Most airports have particular areas where you can buy water. However, it often costs a fortune. A small bottle usually costs from $2 to even $4. Therefore, passengers wonder how they can avoid these costs.

According to aviation security regulations, liquids in carry-on luggage must be in containers not exceeding 3.4 ounces each and packed in a clear plastic bag with maximum dimensions of 8 inches x 8 inches.

Usually, containers hold cosmetics such as shampoo or shower gel. However, nothing prevents you from filling one of them with drinking water. You can pack, for instance, two or three 3.4-ounce bottles, which should be enough to quench your thirst throughout the journey. During the flight, you can have 33.8 ounces of liquids in your carry-on luggage.

A good idea is to bring an empty bottle with a filter you can fill right after the security check. Remember, however, that the bottle must be empty during the check, with no traces of any liquid inside.

At some airports, you can find unique drinking water fountains. If you know the water is safe, you can fill your bottle with sink water.
