On a daily basis, we often make many mistakes that contribute to the buildup of fatty tissue in the stomach area. An undeniable cause of a belly roll is an improper diet and lack of physical activity. What can we do to avoid a spare tire?

We strongly identify with the idea of body positivity, and this article was created with the health of our readers in mind. Why is belly fat a problem? American scientists have studied 15,000 people, whose average age was 45 years. The study published in "Annals Journal of Internal Medicine" showed that men with abdominal obesity were twice as likely to die than those whose fat tissue was evenly distributed in the body. Among women, it increased the risk of death by as much as 40%.

Stress is enemy number one

Mixing feelings such as fear and uncertainty can be the beginning of the road to obesity. Eating stimulates the pleasure center and gives a deceptive feeling of stress relief. Crunching helps distract from unpleasant thoughts, but often behind it all comes with taking in too many calories. This promotes fat accumulation in the abdomen area.

Sport is a way to combat stress and also allows for faster weight loss. Any activity, starting from walks, dance to gym training, will help release emotions and positively affect your appearance. If too many thoughts bother you, instead of resting with a bag of chips, opt for yoga, pilates, or a short bike ride.

Look at the plate

Dietitian Pippa Campbell, in an interview with "The Sun" portal, citing research, said that the order in which we consume different products can significantly affect our health and well-being. She advised that protein is best consumed first in every meal. She also recommends giving up carbohydrates during breakfast and lunch. In the morning, the dietitian suggests oats or muesli with the addition of yogurt, eggs and smoked salmon or a protein shake. Such a breakfast helps increase metabolism at the start of the day. Dinner should consist of a large plate of salads with colorful vegetables and lean protein, such as chicken, fish or tofu.

Dietitians often promote a Mediterranean-style diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, fatty fish (sardines, mackerel, salmon), whole grain products, and olive oil. Meals should contain roughly 25% carbohydrates, such as rice, beans, potatoes, and bread.

Diet on weekends

Often on our days off, we forget about resolutions related to a healthy lifestyle. To reward ourselves for a hard week of work, we allow ourselves more than we should. A piece of pizza or a serving of ice cream won't ruin our diet, but moderation is very important. We should pay special attention to the sugar we consume in alcoholic beverages and the volume of salty snacks we eat during movie sessions. It's important to remember that food is there to give us the necessary energy for life and pleasure, but we should not treat it as a reward.
