During fall and winter, our bodies often take a hit. Because of this, it's worth investigating natural methods to boost immunity and combat colds. Over the years, my tried and tested method involves a glass of a particular strengthening drink.

As soon as I sense the first signs of a cold - a stuffy nose or a slight chill, I head to the kitchen to whip up this strength-enhancing beverage. Not only does it serve as a natural antidote to colds, but it also makes for an excellent preventative measure. It's essentially a compact glass packed with beneficial vitamins.

Creating a power-packed grapefruit drink

The foundation of my drink consists of lemon and grapefruit juice, which are rich in vitamin C. Included in the mix is garlic, celebrated for its natural antibiotic properties, and honey, which adds a touch of sweetness. Beyond the sweetness, honey also strengthens the heart, decreases blood pressure, enhances circulation, and slows down the development of atherosclerosis.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of warm water,
  • 1 grapefruit,
  • 1 lemon,
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic,
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey.

Preparation method:

  1. Start by peeling the fruits and cutting them into quarters. De-seed them and drop them into a blender.
  2. Blend everything together with the peeled garlic and honey.
  3. Pour the mixture into a glass and fill it up with warm water. Stir it well before drinking.

Consume for better health

Research confirms that grapefruits positively affect heart functionality. They help lower cholesterol levels and reduce arterial blood pressure. Grapefruits are an excellent means to help prevent atherosclerosis. Credit for this goes to potent antioxidants like lycopene and carotenoids.

Unless you have a citrus allergy, there are no contraindications to consuming grapefruits daily. However, in certain instances, you may have to reduce or even entirely exclude these fruits from your diet. This applies primarily when grapefruit juice risks serious interaction with your medication. Should you have any concerns, consult with your doctor or a pharmacist to sidestep potential health issues.
