A British security agency initially shared reports about the attacks on Israeli tankers in the Red Sea, later confirmed by Yemeni Houthi rebels. Army spokesman Yahya Saree relayed via platform X that the targets of the attacks were the Liberian tanker Chios Lion and the Panamanian Bentley I.

The motive for the attack was stated as the use of Israeli ports by the owners of the vessels. Bentley I was attacked using drones and ballistic missiles. Chios Lion, on the other hand, was struck by unmanned surface vehicles. The assault took place southwest of the port city of Al-Hudaydah.

The day after the attacks in the Red Sea, the Houthi rebel army spokesman posted a recording on social media showing the moment the Liberian ship Chios Lion was hit. It shows the tanker exploding and plumes of smoke rising into the air.

Scenes from the operation aimed at the oil tanker Chios Lion, which became a target of the Yemeni armed forces in the Red Sea due to the owner's violation of the decision to prohibit docking at the ports of occupied Palestine - reads the post by Yahya Saree.
