When the heat becomes unbearable, and the sun's rays pour down from the sky, ensuring proper hydration is essential. A homemade lemonade with a unique flavor can tempt you to take a sip.

Some people prefer it sweet, adding more sugar or honey, while others opt for a more sour version, claiming it is even more refreshing. Lemonade has been famous for years, confidently competing with sodas on restaurant menus. Making it at home is simple, and you don't have to limit yourself to just lemons.

How to make lemonade?

The first mention of a drink resembling lemonade comes from Egypt over a thousand years ago. Ancient Egyptians combined lemons with dates and honey. Over time, lemonade conquered the world, becoming one of the most popular drinks.

Making homemade lemonade is straightforward. You only need a few essential ingredients: lemons, sugar, water, and a bit of imagination. You can experiment with different fruits, herbs, and additives. Instead of plain water, you can also opt for sparkling water. Sugar, honey, erythritol, or xylitol work well as sweeteners.

Rhubarb is a summer vegetable most often used in pies. While it's a good choice for baking, it's worth setting aside a few stalks to make delicious lemonade. It's tart and wonderfully refreshing on hot days.

It's best to gradually add sugar to the lemonade, adjusting the sweetness to individual preferences.

  • 1.1 pounds of rhubarb
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 quart of water
