The recipe for milk rolls is an excellent solution for those considering baking bread at home but who don't have the patience for laborious processes. You only need a few simple ingredients to prepare the rolls. The dough can be made with the help of a mixer.

A fresh roll always at hand

Once again, you find yourself going home with a classic loaf of bread. Meanwhile, it turns out that you can easily make soft and fluffy milk rolls at home.

From 1 pound of wheat flour, you can make 16 neat rolls that will stay fresh for three consecutive days. So, you can easily make them in the evening and serve them for breakfast the next day. They're also perfect for family gatherings; for example, serve them with traditional soups.

How to make dough for delicious milk rolls?

To prepare a large tray full of rolls, you need:

  • 1 pound of all-purpose flour,
  • 1.5 cups of warm milk,
  • 0.56 ounces of fresh yeast,
  • 2 ounces of sugar,
  • 1.4 ounces of butter,
  • 0.14 ounces of salt.

You can replace dry yeast with fresh yeast, but you will need to prepare a starter first. In warm milk, crumble fresh yeast (0.56 ounces), add 1 tablespoon of flour and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Cover with a cloth and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes.

Preparing the dough

  1. Sift the flour into a large bowl, and add the sugar and salt. In a separate container, heat the milk—warm but not hot—and mix it with the dry yeast.
  2. If you choose the variant with fresh yeast, prepare the starter.
  3. Add the milk with yeast or starter to the flour and knead using a mixer with hooks for 10 minutes.
  4. When the dough forms a ball, add the softened butter cut into pieces. Mix again until the ingredients are combined.
  5. Cover the bowl with the dough with a cloth and set aside to rise for 40 minutes.

Forming the rolls

  1. Transfer the risen dough to a floured board.
  2. Shape it into a roll, then cut it into 16 equal squares with a knife.
  3. Take each square in your hands and tuck the edges under—shaping them into perfect balls. You can further smooth them on the board.
  4. Cover the formed rolls with a cloth and set aside for 15 minutes.
  5. After this time, shape them into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Again, set aside to rise, this time for 40 minutes.

Baking the rolls

  1. Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit on the top-bottom setting.
  2. Lightly dust the rolls with flour sifted through a sieve.
  3. Bake them in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
