While we often discuss holiday dishes that have become Christmas classics over the years such as red borscht with dumplings, mushroom dumplings, cabbage with peas, herring in cream, and the annual fried carp - there's no denying the importance of salads. They don't always have to be "traditional".

When we think of "holiday salad", the classic vegetable blend often comes to mind; a dish we anticipate each year. However, there isn't any custom or social convention that restricts us to just this one type of salad. Especially when there are countless other tried-and-true recipes out there. Today, we'll share a recipe that has already been a hit on numerous holidays. There's no fancy twist — it's simply a delicious, straightforward holiday salad made from basic ingredients. Try it for yourself, we promise you won't regret it!

Holiday Pasta Salad

Ingredients:

  • 3.5 ounces of pasta of your choice (any short variety: ribbons, shells, bows, etc.),
  • 5.3 ounces of your favorite ham,
  • 3-4 eggs,
  • 1 red bell pepper,
  • 1 small can of corn,
  • 1 small can of peas,
  • 1/2 bunch of dill,
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
  • 2 tablespoons of natural yogurt,
  • 1 clove of garlic,
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard,
  • 1 teaspoon of honey,
  • salt and pepper to taste.

Method of preparation:

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions. Hard-boil the eggs and dice them. Dice the ham and bell pepper too. Drain the corn and peas. Chop the dill.
  2. Combine all the prepared ingredients in a salad bowl. In a separate bowl, mix natural yogurt, mayonnaise, mustard, honey and pressed garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Pour the prepared dressing over the ingredients in the salad bowl. Mix thoroughly. Taste, and if necessary, adjust seasonings. Your holiday salad is now ready to enjoy!
