With no intent of surrender, he crossed the border and proceeded to ram a police car on Dutch soil. His run ended only upon reaching Germany, in the vicinity of Cologne.

The Dutch-based newspaper "De Telegraaf", recounting this high-speed chase, cited German media reports stating that "the truck continued for approximately 6 miles after the deployment of a spike strip."

Upon his eventual capture, it was revealed that the Belgian driver was under the influence of narcotics. Details about his forthcoming trial – such as where it will take place and what precisely he will be charged with – are as yet unknown. However, the Dutch authorities, due to the damage to their police vehicle, have officially requested his extradition.
