In mid-October, the United States deployed a strike group to the eastern region of the Mediterranean Sea. The intention is to dissuade Hezbollah and its ally Iran from fully engaging in the conflict with Israel.
Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, a radical Shiite group from Lebanon, asserted in his first public appearance since October 7, that Hezbollah does not fear the United States and is ready to "face the navy" as well.
Nasrallah threatens the USA
Hassan Nasrallah spoke to the United States, stating that his forces are "well-prepared" to handle the warships positioned in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
"Those who defeated you in the 80s are still alive", he added.
He stressed that the Hamas attack on October 7 was "100 percent Palestinian" work and the responsibility for the war in the Gaza Strip lies entirely with the United States.
Analysts suggest that the statements by Nasrallah, the leader of Shiite Hezbollah, could hint at the organization's future actions in the midst of the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Since the conflict began, triggered by the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, there are fears of a second front opening on the border between Israel and Lebanon, where gunfire exchange occurs daily. Recently, Hamas representatives expressed hope for a greater involvement of Hezbollah in the fight against Israel.
