The La Liga match on Saturday between Celta Vigo and Sevilla was marked by high emotions and numerous controversies. At one point, Iago Aspas was unable to keep his frustration in check. He was seen venting his anger on the VAR monitor after leaving the pitch.

Celta Vigo faced Sevilla on Saturday evening in the 12th round of the Spanish La Liga. The game began on a promising note for the hosts as they took an early lead in the 22nd minute with a goal by Carl Starfelt.

The game took a challenging turn for the hosts in the second half. In the 65th minute, Renato Tapia received his second yellow card. Consequently, Celta found themselves down to ten men, yet managed to defend their one-goal lead for almost twenty minutes. However, Youssef En-Nesyri managed to even the score in the 84th minute.

Just as Sevilla seemed ready to seize the winning goal, Celta had the opportunity to clinch the victory on their side. In the game's closing minutes, the referee initially awarded a penalty to the hosts. However, the VAR intervened, overruling the referee's decision after a comprehensive review, thus nullifying the penalty. This led to the match concluding in a 1:1 draw.

This was the situation that proved to be the breaking point for Iago Aspas. The Celta Vigo player, having started the match on the field and assisted the goal by Starfelt, was benched towards the end of the game. An online video shows the player, now clad in a jacket, standing near the sideline just before the announcement of the VAR decision.

In one intense moment, Aspas, eliciting a loud whistle from Celta fans, released his frustration and shoved the VAR monitor, causing it to topple over. A teammate quickly intervened, escorting Aspas away towards the substitute bench.

Given the predicament, the player could potentially face severe repercussions for damaging the equipment. As of now, the league authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident.

Aspas' furious reaction reflects Celta Vigo's disappointing performance this season. Presently, the club is lingering in the relegation zone with a meager haul of 8 points from their eleven matches. It appears Celta is set for a challenging battle to maintain their position in La Liga, with every point gaining immense significance.
