When HBO aired the first episode of "The Last of Us" in January 2023, the post-apocalyptic story, based on the iconic game series, captivated viewers worldwide. There was nothing as engaging to watch at the time as the series with Pedro Pascal, playing Joel, who is determined to save people, most importantly, a teenage girl named Ellie (Bella Ramsey). She could be the key to finding a cure for the terrible mutation turning people into monsters. The premiere episode alone attracted 4.7 million viewers in the United States. In two months, the series was watched by a total of 40 million viewers, with the average now reported as 30 million after the entire season was released. The creation of the second season was inevitable, and we finally know when we'll see our favorites again on streaming and the HBO channel.

"The Last of Us 2" - when is the premiere?

Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the game and showrunner of The Last of Us, announced the series' second season, which will debut in April, during the CES conference in Las Vegas. The series, which won eight Emmy Awards, returns with new episodes that adapt events from The Last of Us Part II.

Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby, a key and controversial character in the new season. Viewers can expect intense scenes that reflect pivotal moments from the game. In one of the previews, Abby says, "It doesn't matter if you have a code like me! There are just some things everyone agrees are just wrong."

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as Joel and Ellie. The action takes place a few years after the first season's events, with the protagonists living in a commune in Jackson. After a traumatic event, Ellie sets out on a mission for justice.

New characters join the cast, including Isabela Merced as Dina, Ellie's love interest, and Young Mazino as Jesse, Ellie's friend. Catherine O'Hara will play Joel's therapist, helping him deal with the trauma from the first season. Fans eagerly anticipate scenes with these two award-winning actors, as epic moments are expected between them.

You can catch a glimpse of the new season in the trailer released online. Bella Ramsey had her hands full on set, and it's clear her character won't have it easy in the new episodes. A powerful and bloody spectacle is on the way. In fact, even Pedro Pascal's tears will not be missing.
