The survey was conducted on Monday and Tuesday after the Republican National Convention, in which Donald Trump formally accepted the nomination as the candidate. This followed Joe Biden's Sunday announcement that he is withdrawing from the race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
Changes in Election Polling
According to Reuters, Harris and Trump received 44 percent in a July 15-16 survey. The latest online survey by Reuters and Ipsos, which included 1,241 adults across the U.S., indicates that Harris has gained an edge over Trump.
The latest survey found that 56 percent of registered voters agree that Harris is "smart and capable of handling challenges," while 49 percent of respondents said the same about Trump. Only 22 percent of respondents evaluated Biden in this way.
