Vice President Kamala Harris has regained a slight advantage over Donald Trump among potential voters nationwide, ABC News reports, citing the latest poll commissioned by the network. However, the presidential race remains so tight that the final result is still uncertain, due to the specifics of the Electoral College voting system in the USA.
As ABC News notes, voter turnout will play a key role. Among all registered voters, the difference between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is only 2 percentage points, 49-47%.
"This goes to a slight Harris advantage among likely voters, 51-47%, with some pro-Harris groups showing a bit more propensity to vote," ABC News emphasizes.
Compared to the previous poll from the beginning of the month, Kamala Harris has regained the typical Democratic advantage among Latinos and has increased her lead among suburban women while maintaining strong support among core groups such as African Americans. Trump, on the other hand, is gaining support in rural areas and among white men without higher education, and is also achieving competitive results among younger men, ABC News analyzes the poll results.
Polls do not indicate a favorite
Two other polls published on Friday show that the electorate in the USA is still undecided about whom to entrust with the presidency in the November elections. Nationwide surveys by New York Times/Siena College and CNN resulted in a tie. In two others, the Democrat held a slight lead.
