Harris edges ahead of Trump in a tight race for 93 electoral votes
The latest CNN survey shows that Kamala Harris has a slight lead over Donald Trump. The projected number of electors for the Democratic candidate currently stands at 226, while the Republican candidate can count on 219. A fierce battle for 93 electoral votes is underway.
According to the latest CNN survey, Harris is the predicted winner in states such as California, which has 54 electoral votes, and New York, with 28 votes. Other states within her reach are Illinois (19 votes), New Jersey (14), Washington (12), Massachusetts (11), and Maryland (10). This group of states can also include Connecticut (7), Rhode Island (4), Hawaii (4), Vermont (3), Delaware (3), the District of Columbia or Washington DC (3), and Maine (3).
States leaning towards the Democratic candidate include Virginia, which has 13 electoral votes, Colorado (10), Minnesota (10), New Mexico (5), Oregon (8), New Hampshire (4), and Nebraska (1).
Donald Trump is very likely to win in states such as Texas (40), Ohio (17), Tennessee (11), Indiana (11), Missouri (10), Alabama (9), South Carolina (9), Kentucky (8), Louisiana (8), Oklahoma (7), Arkansas (6), Iowa (6), Kansas (6), Mississippi (6), Utah (6), Idaho (4), Montana (4), West Virginia (4), Nebraska (4), Alaska (3), North Dakota (3), South Dakota (3), and Wyoming (3).
Battle for 93 electoral votes
States favoring the Republican candidate are Florida (30) and Maine (1).
Seven swing states, where the polls are evenly matched, are Pennsylvania (19), North Carolina (16), Georgia (16), Michigan (15), Arizona (11), Wisconsin (10), and Nevada (6).
This means that the candidates are battling for 93 electoral votes.
Both Maine and Nebraska allow for the division of electoral votes. In Maine, two of the four electoral votes go to the state-wide vote winner, and one electoral vote goes to the winner in the two congressional districts. In Nebraska, two of the five electoral votes go to the state-wide vote winner, and one electoral vote goes to the winner in each of Nebraska's three congressional districts.
