Shannen Doherty, star of "Beverly Hills 90210," died on Saturday, July 13, at 53. Since 2015, she had been battling cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. She had the support of her loved ones all the while but not from her husband. While the actress was ill, Kurt Iswarienko was cheating on her. She then fought long for a divorce. Until her death, she was fighting her ex for alimony. "It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years," wrote the actress, who had no luck in love.
Shannen Doherty's first husband in police custody
Now, attention has turned to Ashley Hamilton, the star's first husband. The couple married on September 24, 1993. They made a few public appearances and appeared in a few entertainment shows before breaking up. Doherty filed for divorce after just five months. They officially divorced on November 7, 1994.
According to TMZ.com, Ashley Hamilton was arrested after he allegedly threatened a hotel employee with a knife. The incident occurred in a luxury hotel in Beverly Hills around 5 AM Eastern Time on August 24. According to information provided by the police, the problem started when a hotel employee woke up Hamilton, who was sleeping on a couch in the lobby, informing him that he couldn't sleep there. As a result, a dispute ensued, which quickly escalated. Hamilton reportedly pulled out a pocket knife, prompting the employee to flee and call for help.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers detained Hamilton and found the knife. The hotel employee expressed a desire to press charges, leading to the actor’s arrest for an offense related to the threat of using a weapon. He was then taken to the hospital to check if he was under the influence of psychoactive substances. It turned out that he was clean.
In an interview with TMZ, Hamilton explained that his reaction was due to surprise and that he did not remember the incident clearly. He also informed that he was taking medication, including oxycodone, for which he had a prescription due to a skin cancer diagnosis—squamous cell carcinoma. The actor emphasized that he had already undergone two surgeries and treatment, hence the need to take painkillers. He assured that he did not intend to harm the hotel employee.
Despite Hamilton's reassuring statements, the police said the case would be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, which will consider filing formal charges against the actor.
