Beneath the crispy pastry, there's a small sausage with cheese, though some may also find a piece of carrot. This adds a humorous twist to the popular "trick or treat" tradition in the United States. Fortunately, the "trick" isn't unpleasant—there's nothing wrong with a carrot!

When this snack appears on the table, everyone eagerly reaches for it. It looks impressive, yet its preparation is neither complicated nor particularly time-consuming.

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

Other ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 oz poultry sausages
  • 2 oz sliced cheese
  • 1 small carrot (trick)

Instructions:

Step 1. Pour the flour into a bowl, add the butter, and knead briefly. Then add the egg, sugar, and salt, and combine the ingredients until a uniform dough forms. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour.

Step 2. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and allow it to sit for half an hour. Then, roll it out, dusting with flour, to a thickness of 1/16 of an inch. Cut out circles.

Step 3. Cut the sausage into pieces and the cheese into smaller strips. Brush half of each circle with egg white and wrap the sausage with cheese. Lightly pinch the sides to form a candy shape. In one candy, place a piece of carrot instead of sausage.

Step 4. Fry the candies in hot oil until golden brown. After frying, drain the snacks on a paper towel.

Step 5. Serve the snacks with your favorite dip. It can be garlic, tomato, BBQ, or any other sauce. Enjoy!
