Halle Berry wins small court victory in custody battle
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez were together for five years. Their media-covered breakup and battle for child custody have already lasted almost twice as long as the relationship itself. Recently, the court sided with Berry, but the struggle is not over.

A few weeks ago, Halle filed a request in court for sole custody of their son, in which she outlined her efforts to address their son's educational difficulties by advocating for tutoring, educational assessment, and finding the right environment for his needs. Berry claims that Martinez had opposed such solutions for years and had not consented to them. The actress also filed a complaint against her ex-husband for interrupting their parental therapy and demanded a court order for its continuation.
TMZ learned that Berry has reason to be pleased. The court sided with her, but so far, only in the small matter of the therapy.
Short relationship, long fight
Halle and Olivier started dating in 2010. Two years later, they got engaged. In 2013, the couple got married and welcomed their son, Maceo. In 2015, they announced their separation. Since then, they haven't been able to reach an agreement. It wasn't until 2023 that they finalized their divorce. They are still fighting for custody rights over the now 11-year-old boy in court.
According to the agreement, Berry must pay Martinez almost $8,000 in monthly child support and cover the costs of their son's private schooling, extracurricular activities, and healthcare. Both must also refrain from making negative remarks about each other in front of Maceo.
