The Israeli Ministry of Education has announced that it will remove all mentions of climate activist Greta Thunberg from its curriculum. This is a response to the young activist's post, in which she sided with Palestine and Gaza.

Greta Thunberg faced sharp criticism from hundreds of Israeli climate activists over the weekend. The Swedish activist published a post on X [Twitter] on Friday, October 20th, addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Her voice of support for Gaza did not sit well with Israelis.

"Week 270. Today we protest in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world must speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice, and freedom for the Palestinians and all affected civilians" - stated Greta Thunberg.

The post by the activist was met with a harsh reaction from Israeli activists and authorities. The Israeli Ministry of Education announced they would remove from the curriculum any reference to climate activist Greta Thunberg after she published a post with an anti-Israeli message "Stand with Gaza" - reports "The Jerusalem Post".

"Hamas is a terrorist organization responsible for the murder of 1400 innocent Israelis, including children, women, and the elderly, as well as the abduction of over 200 people to the Gaza Strip. Such behavior disqualifies her [Greta Thunberg - ed. note] as an educational and moral example to follow, therefore she can no longer serve as an inspiration and educator for Israeli students" - explained the ministry.

Israeli environmental activists have also issued an open letter to Greta Thunberg, with over 100 signatures collected. Activists wrote in it that they are "deeply hurt, shocked, and disappointed" by the posts of the Swede, who they believe should "re-examine the atrocities committed by Hamas".
