Hector David Rivera, an actor recognized for his role as the Green Power Ranger, was sentenced to 45 days in prison for assaulting an elderly man. The incident occurred in July 2024 in Nampa, Idaho. Rivera pleaded guilty to the assault, which was recorded on camera.
The sentencing and terms of the ruling
Initially, the court sentenced Rivera to 180 days in prison, but Judge Matthew B. Schelstrate suspended 135 days of the sentence. The actor must also undergo two years of probation and complete 100 hours of community service.
The incident took place in the parking lot of an apartment complex, where Rivera attacked the elderly man. Why? American media said the altercation was sparked by a dispute over... a parking space. The actor parked in a handicapped spot, and the man pointed out it was against the law.
The Nampa police released footage of the incident, which helped quickly identify the perpetrator. "Our community supports us in pursuing criminals," said Officer Erick Moore.
The 35-year-old Hector David began his career in the entertainment industry with a small role in the film "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." He has several less prestigious productions to his credit. From 2011 to 2015, he appeared in the "Power Rangers" series. Recently, he had a stroke of luck and acted in "Father of the Bride," a Max production featuring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan and the Netflix Christmas film "Holiday Gentlemen."
