Google's rankings for summer 2024's most popular destinations were derived from data collected between June 1 and August 31.

Contrary to expectations that beachfront locales or exotic islands might dominate, the list is led by two European cities—London and Paris, with Tokyo securing the third spot. These cities captivate tourists' imaginations more than any other.

The top ten is rounded out by Rome, New York, Cancun, Orlando, Las Vegas, Seattle, and Athens. This preference underscores Americans' fondness for Europe, with many choosing it as their vacation destination outside the USA.

The search for flights to Paris and London does not limit travelers' exploration to these cities alone. Thanks to their accessibility from the States and their roles as primary entry points, they often serve as gateways for more extensive European adventures.

Madrid is a notable newcomer, breaking into the top twenty for the first time this year.
