Goodbye, CS:GO. You can download Counter-Strike 2 for free on Steam

It happened. Counter-Strike 2 finally replaces the legendary CS:GO on Steam. The shooter from Valve is completely free. Players who wonder about the fate of their equipment can breathe a sigh of relief.

This is a symbolic end of a certain chapter, just like in the case of the FIFA series. Counter-Strike 2 appeared on the Steam platform not as a separate production, but as a free update to CS:GO. Quite frankly: we bid farewell to CS:GO, and in place of the legendary title, we now have Counter-Strike 2 with a fairly wide range of changes, which at first glance seem minor.

The most important issue remains the changes that Counter-Strike 2 introduces compared to CS:GO. Firstly, good news that should reassure part of the players: we will transfer all items acquired in CS:GO to CS2. A similar situation takes place in the case of transferring items to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (there are exceptions, however).

Counter-Strike 2 - these changes make the biggest impression

In Counter-Strike 2, we will find, of course, updated, refreshed maps. A breakthrough are the dynamic smoke grenades; volumetric smoke will be able to interact with other objects in the game world or escape through doors and windows of buildings. Players therefore need to develop new tactical solutions. In addition, the audio-visual effects have been refreshed. Counter-Strike 2 also changes the tick rate - the gameplay will be independent of the server update rate.

In addition to that, we received a short trailer for Counter-Strike 2. Everything suggests that we are getting almost the same, but in a refreshed form. How will these seemingly cosmetic changes (volumetric smoke, changes in tickrate) be received by players, especially those "conservative" ones, of which there are many? Time will verify Valve's achievements.
