  • An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was registered in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) provided the information. The epicenter was located 106 miles northeast of Kashgar, home to over 500,000 people, at a depth of 6 miles. There is currently no information on potential victims or damage.
  • Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and provincial premiers spoke on Wednesday about threats from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump regarding imposing a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico. These threats are in connection with, among other things, illegal immigration and drugs from China. "The Prime Minister emphasized that economic relations with Canada are one of the biggest competitive advantages for the U.S. in the context of global strategic uncertainty," stated a press release from the Prime Minister's office.
  • Several Russian cities in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions were attacked overnight using drones. Videos of the explosions appeared on social media.
  • Hezbollah, in its first statement after the ceasefire took effect on Wednesday in the fighting with Israel in Lebanon, declared "victory" over Israel and announced continued resistance. It was noted that "Israeli attempts to occupy cities and create a buffer zone" in Lebanon failed.
  • Residents of Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, and other large towns protested against the radical, anti-Western Calin Georgescu, the unexpected winner of the first round of presidential elections. "Romania, do not forget that Europe is your home!" shouted the demonstrators, among whom young people predominated.
  • NASA astronauts Suni Williams, Barry "Butch" Wilmore, Don Pettit, and Nick Hague showed what their festive space meal looks like for Thanksgiving. It's vacuum-packed smoked turkey, Brussels sprouts, and butternut squash.
