Faeser specifically mentioned the mysterious death of a Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine a year ago. Details have emerged that Maksim Kuzminov was shot in the southern part of Spain.

"We believe that this could be an act of state terrorism. German law enforcement agencies maintain constant contact with Spanish services," the head of the German Foreign Ministry reported.

Unofficial reports suggest that the Russian military man was attacked by two individuals. They reportedly first struck him with a stolen car before shooting him multiple times in the chest.

"Any Russian who has the bravery to oppose Putin endangers themselves. Many courageous people have sought refuge in Germany. We're committed to providing full protection to these individuals and are doing everything necessary to fulfill this duty," Nancy Faeser stressed.

Defectors from Russia to receive protection in Germany

German services are known to be overseeing the case. Local politicians underscore the urgency to involve both federal and state services in the matter.

"Federal and regional security agencies will scrutinize all indications of danger and cooperate closely. War instigator Vladimir Putin will not be deterred by any means," the head of the German Foreign Ministry reiterated.

German media reports indicate that approximately 1900 Russian citizens face threats for opposing the Kremlin regime, advocating for human rights, and democracy. These individuals have openly opposed the war with Ukraine.
