The famed couple from Lower Saxony, the Jeromins, in recent years, have become widely recognized for their, atypical yet delightful, holiday passion. They fill their entire house with Christmas trees, setting a record for the most decorated trees in a single-family home. This year, they are housing an astonishing 555 trees.

During the advent, Susanne and Thomas Jeromin's unassuming 1076 square feet house in Rinteln, Germany, turns into a sprawling, green, decorated forest, filled with hundreds of twinkling Christmas trees. The proud owner of these festive trees praises his collection, insisting on the calming effect it brings.

"I simply enjoy sitting and observing them. If not, I would have set them up outside like everyone else. I, however, wanted to house them so I could constantly gaze at them," explained Jeromin in his interview with Reuters.

With each year passing, the couple successfully sets a new and higher Guinness record. Two years ago, they held 444 trees, and this year, the count reached 555.

Decorating Begins in September

The holiday-loving duo starts the preparation for home decoration and tree gathering in September each year. That’s when Thomas Jeromin dedicates his time to taking out neatly organized Christmas decorations from the storage and stringing them on the trees.

The "winter wonderland", as the Jeromins call it, situated in Rinteln-Volksen, has gained such renown that pre-COVID times saw them inviting tours into their home. The continuous interest from the media has reached as far as Japan.

"The Jeromin's affection for decorated Christmas trees is limitless. I am always taken aback by the dedication and creativity they put into each decoration. Every tree is unique, and the end result is astounding," mentioned Olaf Kuchenbecker during the official presentation of 2020’s record certificate.
