The latest update, published this week, indicates that Germany has significantly accelerated the pace of arms deliveries to Ukraine. The report covers transfers that took place between March 17 and April 18.

Ukraine has already received 12 units in the past year. Four recently delivered vehicles came from December production, suggesting that the equipment takes about four months to produce.

Modern defense systems

It is worth noting that in the March update of German aid, the delivery of four Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers was already mentioned. Although this might seem like rapid action, the simultaneous production of several units and their delivery in batches significantly speeds up the pace of deliveries.

According to the Defense Express portal, the updated aid package includes a wide range of essential elements in addition to these key systems:

  • Four IRIS-T air defense systems (SLM/SLS variants) along with missiles
  • Deliveries of Patriot missiles
  • 120 portable Igla anti-aircraft missile systems
  • 316 Vector drones
  • 30 RQ-35 Heidrun drones
  • 1,100 ground surveillance radars

While Germany debates the political and military value of transferring Taurus missiles, Rheinmetall is focusing on ammunition, expanding missile production, including in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is considering establishing a joint weapons production center with Ukraine, signaling Europe's growing interest in deeper industrial cooperation in the defense sector.
