Police suspect that the scorpion ended up in the package during its packing in China.

"We immediately started an internal investigation. Our on-site teams checked the shipment packing process and verified similar goods in our warehouse. They also confirmed that all standard operational processes were followed," Shein assured in a statement to WP Finanse.

Scorpion stung a Shein customer

As reported by WP Finanse, the victim's neighbor contacted the police, and the 25-year-old woman was taken to the University Hospital in Marburg. Officers secured the now-dead scorpion, which was then handed over to doctors to provide the patient with appropriate therapy. The medical report noted swelling at the sting site.

Herpetology expert Chris Newman from the National Centre for Reptile Welfare identified the scorpion species as Olivierus martensii, which is typically found in China and Manchuria. According to him, although the sting of this scorpion should not pose a threat to the health of adults, children and the elderly may be more susceptible to its effects.

"We received with concern the information about the incident raised in media reports and contacted the customer to offer our support. Her well-being is our top priority, and we wish her a speedy recovery," emphasized the Chinese company in a statement.
