German tourist hospitalized after violent chef clash in Ibiza
A nightmare unfolded for a German tourist in Ibiza. He visited one of the local restaurants, but the meal he ordered didn't meet his expectations, so he informed the staff. The chef reacted so aggressively that the tourist ended up in the hospital.
The third-largest island in the Balearics, Ibiza attracts partygoers from all over the world during the summer. It is also home to tranquil towns with narrow streets, a unique atmosphere, UNESCO-listed sites, and extraordinary nature reserves.
When the holiday partygoers leave the island in the fall, many retirees, including a number of Germans, enjoy a peaceful retreat there. Unfortunately, one of them will not have fond memories of his stay. The chef of a well-known restaurant in Ibiza attacked him after he complained about the food.
The chef assaulted the dissatisfied customer
A 72-year-old German tourist went to the restaurant with his partner and friends. He was dissatisfied with his meal and sent it back to the kitchen arguing that the dish wasn't what he ordered and claiming it was of poor quality. The chef responded aggressively by coming out into the dining area and allegedly assaulting the customer.
First, he shouted aggressively, then lunged at the German tourist, pushing him with such force that the man fell, injuring his back and neck. While the victim lay on the floor, the chef reportedly smashed a plate with food and continued to insult the elderly man.
The tourist sought medical attention at the nearest health center, where he was initially diagnosed with minor bruises. However, feeling unwell after a few days, he returned to the facility. He was immediately transported to Son Espases Hospital in Palma for surgery, as it was discovered that he had two blood clots in his chest, which were affecting his breathing.
The restaurant's chef, a 37-year-old Spaniard, was subsequently arrested on charges of serious bodily harm.
