We previously reported that as many as 13 women have accused the 74-year-old actor of violating their bodily integrity. A Spanish journalist, who interviewed Depardieu approximately thirty years ago, has now joined their ranks. During the interview, the actor is said to have behaved in an inexcusable manner.

Did Depardieu assault a journalist?

As reported by The Independent, 51-year-old Ruth Baza, who formerly worked with newspapers such as "El Mundo" and "El Correo", has filed a complaint at a police station in Torremolinos, in the province of Malaga, southern Spain. The alleged incident occurred on October 12, 1995, at the Roissy Films studio in Paris.

While representing "Cinemania" magazine, Baza interviewed Depardieu. She was 23 years old, and the actor was 47. After the interview, which lasted about an hour, Depardieu allegedly began to kiss and touch her inappropriately, penetrating her with his fingers through her clothes. By a new law that eliminates the distinction between aggression and sexual exploitation, the police deemed this as rape. The journalist admitted that she felt paralyzed during the incident.

The Independent shares from the Spanish AFP that the victim had completely forgotten about the alleged assault. The recent reports about Depardieu brought back painful memories.

Accusations against the actor

The portal reports that Depardieu was first investigated in court about allegations of rape and sexual assault in 2020, made by Charlotte Arnould, who was 28 years old. Due to insufficient evidence, the case was dropped in 2019 but reopened after criminal charges were made. The actor, who denies the allegations, now awaits trial or dismissal of charges.

In April of this year, he faced accusations of sexual abuse by 13 women, a number that has reportedly increased to 16. French investigative platform Mediapart revealed that Depardieu has been accused of molestation, groping, and sexual assault by these women. The Paris prosecutor's office is also investigating the alleged suicide of 60-year-old actress Emmanuelle Debever earlier this month. Debever had claimed that Depardieu sexually assaulted her decades ago.
